We need your help.
Twine is constantly evolving: features that you find valuable are improved and those that you don’t are trimmed back. That’s the beauty of it. It changes and grows into a better product every day, and as more companies come on board the more feedback we get and the stronger the product becomes.
This post then, is all about speeding up that process. I’m going to fill you in about two of our focus areas for early next year, and invite you to tell me how we should do this, or if we should focus here at all.
Through conversations with current and prospective customers, we’ve identified the Knowledge Base and the Dashboard as features that users find a lot of value in, but lacking in depth of functionality. Below is a quick rundown of our plans for both of them, plus a chance to share your own thoughts.
Managing files in Knowledge
Twine should be a single source of truth for your company policies and information. But to be useful and trusted it needs to be up-to-date and accurate.
Whilst the article format on Twine is fantastic for this purpose, for files, it can be a little limited. At the moment, Twine supports the uploading of files, which is great – but if you are also using a dedicated file manager (Dropbox/GDrive/OneDrive), problems can arise if you make changes. Quickly, you can end up with out-of-date, inaccurate content (really not ideal).
So, it’s high time Twine provided better support for document storage linking to your company’s file management system. First, we’re looking to support files in the knowledge base data table, so you aren’t forced to attach them to articles (something we’ve noticed some clients doing).
We’ll then be starting to link these to file systems like Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox, so you can use Twine as your ordered Knowledge Base, whilst we let the big boys do the heavy lifting of collaborative docs and versioning 👌
Overhauling the Dashboard
The big project post-New Year is focused on the Dashboard – an area long overdue some TLC.
The Dashboard is at the core of Twine – for many, it’s the part of the system that they will see every day as their home screen. Yet every company is unique, has a different set up: different systems that they want to link off to, different content they want to display on the Dashboard and thus far, Twine is limited in how it deals with this.
- More control over how your dashboard appears.
- Wider selection of widgets (Knowledge/Forms/Calendar)
- Links to sites/systems
